Energie Uit De Wijk Challenge

The Energie uit de Wijk Challenge has been organized three times by the municipality of The Hague. This is a challenge for groups of residents in The Hague that have plans for transitioning their street or neighborhood towards using clean energy. The winners of the challenge receive financial support and consulting to help realizing the plans.
The municipality has now organized three editions of the Energie uit de Wijk Challenge (Energy from the Neighborhood Challenge). This is a challenge for groups of residents in the Hague that have plans towards the transition to clean energy in their street or neighborhood. The winners of the Challenge will receive financial support and advice to help realizing the plans.
The winning initiatives of 2021 were:
- Sustainability Dreeshuis ”The new Pearl of the District” – Bomenbuurt
- Sollude – Flower-shaped solar panels in Mariahoeve and Leidschenveen
- Seville on the North Sea – shade sails over the road in the Statenkwartier
- Energy cooperative of beach pavilion owners – sustainable energy for the beach pavilions
- Sketch goes green – making the Spoorwijk community center more sustainable
- Energy harbour: sun, recreation and energy storage for the district! – Binckhaven in the Binckhorst
- De HobbeVen Sustainable – making the building more sustainable in the Schilderswijk
A total of €246.685 was distributed among these winning initiatives. They also received support from the municipality for a year. The photo shows the winners of the 2021 challenge.
The implementation of the plans started on January 1, 2022. In this way, the Municipality of The Hague contributes to making affordable and sustainable energy accessible for everyone.
