Streetlab

8 July 2022

We are facing more and more challenges: a pandemic, climate change, increasing inequality. It is therefore important that the city of The Hague and its inhabitants are resilient. In this context, the Resilience Streetlab of the municipality of The Hague was launched in January 2022. During this project, the municipality, residents and other partners work together to increase the resilience of the Noorderbeekdwarsstraat in The Hague. The Noorderbeekdwarsstraat was chosen because it is a reflection of The Hague; there is a diverse mix of residents, there are both owner-occupied and (social) rental homes and there are various types of facilities.

However, you don't make a resilient street alone, you do it together. By entering into a discussion with residents and entrepreneurs, the problems people encouter in the street were mapped out. On the basis of this, goals have been drawn up such as: increasing a sense of security, helping to prepare for unexpected situations and increasing social connection. Then it's time to act! The actions are developed, implemented and managed together with residents, the Segbroek district and internal and external partners.

The Resilience Streetlab of the municipality of The Hague actively contributes to increasing the resilience of the city and its inhabitants and is therefore a good example of SDG 11.
