Conscious Kitchen
Conscious Kitchen is a team of idealists that fights food waste by rescuing would-be-wasted food and turning it into delicious meals for the community.
Conscious kitchen is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization. The Conscious Kitchen team loves the challenge of preparing a meal out of whatever food is donated, and not letting useable food go to waste. The creative and experimental approach results in colourful and unique dishes, varying from lentil dahls, soups with bean sprouts to roasted fennel with harissa. The meals are vegan, both because of practicality and ideals. Eating vegan even just once a week already has a major impact on the ecological footprint.
Conscious Kitchen organizes weekly dinners to promote communal eating, conscious living and sustainability. The dinners take place on Thursday evening at the location Helena van Doeverenplantsoen 3. The entire organization is run by volunteers and all dinners are produced in a sustainable way, either by using food from local markets that would otherwise be wasted or by purchasing it from local and organic producers.
Through the joint dinners, Conscious Kitchen aims to bring people together over food, and in doing so create awareness about food waste and about how tasty plant-based food can be.
You can volunteer to help pick up food, cook, serve or clean. It is also possible to participate in the dinner without volunteering, but by paying a small contribution at the door to cover costs such as rent and maintenance. Take a look at this website for more information.
