Digital Security in the Neighborhood (Digitaal Veilig in de Wijk)

8 July 2022

It's becoming more common these days: people who fall victim to digital crime. Whether it concerns young people who have to deal with cyberbullying, or (older) people who are scammed for large amounts of money online: many people are victims of this growing form of crime. As this crime is growing, it is important that the residents of the cities are better able to defend themselves against this form of crime. In this context, the 'Digital Security in the Neighborhood' program was established, which is supported by the municipality of The Hague and the Police Unit of The Hague.

The Digital Security in the Neighborhood program consists of volunteers who act as ambassadors. They bring cybercrime to the attention of residents of The Hague and inform them about how they can be more resilient to this form of crime. The ambassadors inform the residents by, among other things, information meetings at a central location in the neighborhood, giving presentations and distributing flyers to increase awareness. The project actively contributes to SDG 11 by making the city safer and more resilient.
