Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
SDG 17 is about connection and emphasizes the importance of collaboration in the realization of the SDGs. Sustainable development requires cooperation and partnership between companies, citizens, organisations, cities and countries. Cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation is paramount, as is the expansion of knowledge and technologies.
How The Hague Contributes
Achieving the SDGs cannot be done alone. It is important that municipalities, organizations and companies work together to achieve the goals. In this context, the municipality of The Hague has become a Global Goals Municipality in 2020 and is part of the Municipalities4GlobalGoals campaign of the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG). This is a campaign which more than 100 municipalities in the Netherlands have already joined and where they can share best practices.
On March 11, 2021, The Hague was the winner of the annual Global Goals Municipal election of the VNG in the category of pioneers with the approach of 'access to justice'. You can read everything about this project here.
